Around Mapua

Ideally located for exploring the Nelson Tasman region, Hazelwood is situated within walking distance of Mapua village where you will discover interesting shops, restaurants, pubs and local breweries, church, and health and beauty care.

Stroll down to the wharf or discover some great coastal walks and cycling tracks.

From the wharf you can catch the Mapua Ferry to Rabbit Island where you can enjoy more great walks, cycle tracks and swimming. The ferry takes bicycles.

As part of the Great Taste Cycle Trail we offer all the facilities you need to support and enhance your holiday experience. Bring your own bikes or hire them in the village.

Bus services are available from Mapua village heading north to Motueka, or south to Richmond, Nelson Airport and Nelson city. Timetables can be found on the Tasman District Council website.

Historical Nelson city with its music and arts festivals is a short drive away. Golf courses, local breweries and vineyards are all within easy access. For great swimming, kayaking and tramping you will discover all these and more in the stunning Abel Tasman National Park just 30mins drive and a boat trip away. Drive on a little further to discover the Nelson lakes, Farewell Spit or, if you’re feeling more active, Rainbow ski field or Mount Arthur. As you journey around the area you will discover many interesting art and craft studios and a wealth of Maori and Kiwi history.
